A Letter From Our Coordinator
Welcome to a new and exciting career. You have made an excellent choice. The PCT course, as you know it, was started in 1998, by Theresa Adderley who at that time saw a continuous need for a change agent that can multitask in the Bahamian health care environment. Since then, we have trained hundreds of PCTs who are now working in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, and in private homes.
The mission of this programme is guided by the thought that if we can take our cars to certified mechanics, why we are entrusting our bodies and love ones to untrained persons. You are here just to do that, to fill the knowledge gap and provide safe health care to others who need it. We do encourage each of our students to pursue a career in nursing, as this is the ultimate goal.
The cost of the programme is $1500. Other Charges: The PCT textbook ($75 deposit - see textbook agreement). You can purchase a blood pressure cuff from EATC for an additional $50 and uniforms are purchased by the student from any retailer. At the time of registration, you are required to pay $500; the balance of $1000 must be paid over two installments in an eight-week period. This method ensures your seat. Space is limited, however, you may pay a non-refundable $50 seat fee and the balance of $450 before the class starts.
Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM.
Once you register, a coordinator will contact you to confirm attendance at the orientation which will be held August 11, 2018 at 1 pm and again on September 11, 2018 at 6pm . Please bring a copy of high school diploma (English and Reading proficiency test available if you have no diploma) registration fees and or deposit, copy of photo and questions you may wish to ask.
